Exhibitions

The Exhibitions Program of the Scholastic Awards strives to provide creative teens with the joyful experience of sharing their artwork and writing with the public. The Alliance presents professional exhibitions in cities across the country, including annual shows in New York City and Washington, D.C. 

National Exhibition

National Medalist works of art and writing are included in the annual National Exhibition. The 2023 edition of the National Exhibition was the first fully in-person exhibition since 2019. Hosted between Scholastic Headquarters at 130 Mercer Street and the nonprofit art space Affirmation Arts, the exhibition included over 400 pieces of award-winning art. Previous National Exhibitions have been mounted at The New School and Pratt Institute. 

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Exhibition is supported, in part, by Scholastic Inc., The Maurice R. Robinson Fund, New York Life Foundation, Blick Art Materials & Utrecht Art Supplies, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, National Endowment for the Arts, and numerous other individual, foundation, and corporate funders.

Traveling Exhibitions

National Medalist works are exhibited annually in Washington, D.C., in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education.

Additional traveling exhibitions have been mounted nationwide at institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The Warhol Museum, Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Arnot Art Museum, and Josyln Art Museum.
