Meet the 2014 National Student Poets! Appointed as youth poetry ambassadors in September 2014, they served their term through August 2015.

During their Year of Service, these poets were formally recognized at the White House by First Lady Michelle Obama, who hosted a poetry reading for them with Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco. The poets met some of their heroes at the Dodge Poetry Festival, attended a Youth & Poetry Conference at the Poetry Foundation in Chicago in April 2015, and were recognized on stage at Carnegie Hall during the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Ceremony. With generous support from the Aspen Institute, the National Student Poets participated in a seminar with other youth poets in conjunction with the Aspen Ideas Festival.

The poets embraced these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and shared their love of poetry with young and old alike vis-á-vis their community service projects, National Poetry Month events, and other public appearances (read more here!).
