The Region-at-Large (RAL) Program serves students who live in areas that do not have a local Affiliate Partner. Art and writing submissions are processed and judged first at the regional level either by an Affiliate Partner organization or through the Region-at-Large Program.
At the regional level, students are recognized with Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention Awards. Gold Key recipients automatically advance for adjudication at the national level in New York City.
In 2017, students submitted 60,000 works of art and writing through twelve Region-at-Large areas: Midwest Art, Midwest Writing, Northeast Art, Northeast Writing, Southeast Art, Southeast Writing, Southwest Art, Southwest Writing, West Art, West Writing, International Art, and International Writing.
To find your region, enter your school’s zip code on our Guidelines & Deadlines page.
