All deadlines for the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have passed. The 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards open for submissions on September 13, 2017.

The Delaware Writing Region offers The Boden Award, a $200 annual scholarship, to a female identifying student who is a junior or senior during the current awards season. Gold Key-winning works will be reviewed by The Boden Award committee, sponsored by the Diamond State Branch of the National League of American Pen Women.


Delaware Writing Region notification day is January 16, 2017.
Teachers will receive student results from the Delaware Writing Region by January 16, 2016; students will receive email notification by January 16.

National award notification day is March 13, 2017. 

Students will receive their certificates and Keys during the February 4, 2017 awards ceremony.

Award certificates, keys and congratulatory letters will be given to teachers and students at the awards ceremony: MLK Center, Delaware State University, February 4 from 11:00 to 12:30pm (or delivered to schools if students cannot attend the annual awards ceremony.)

Art Center Gallery reception, 9:00 -- 10:30 a.m.
Student/teacher check-in at MLK Center, 10:00 a.m. -- 11:00 a.m.
Martin Luther King Student Center: Awards Ceremony, 11:00 to 12:30 p.m.

Exhibit of all Gold Key works of Art, Media and Writing, with acknowledgement of Silvr Key award-winners.
Public reception: Saturday, February 4, 2017,  9:00 - 11:00 am

* Printed excerpts from Gold Key works by students in grades 7 through 12 will be displayed in the Gallery alongside visual artworks from the Delaware Arts Region.
   Names of Silver Key award winners in Writing will be acknowledged in a gallery display.

* All writing works honored with a Gold or Silver Key will be featured in Full-text on e-readers at the Awards Exhibition.
