Winston Chmielinski highlights the non-performativity of his subjects, bringing out unconscious or believed-to-be-unnoticed bodily expressions with gestural panes of paint - not in an attempt to reveal anything specific about the subject, but rather to relate something felt and familiar. He is a recent graduate of New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study where he concentrated in Philosophy and Creative writing, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. |

Valerie Crosswhite was born in Baltimore, Maryland and now lives and works in Manhattan. She received her BFA from the Cooper Union in 2002. In 2010 she went to Seoul, South Korea as an apexart Outbound Resident. She is a painter, and recently had an exhibition of her paintings shown in conjunction with the New York International Latino Film Festival. Her work deals with comic sexuality, giddy voyeurism, animal spirits, and life lessons. |

Justin was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1983. In high school he was first exposed to the use of computer for making art. In the fall of 2001, he started his freshman year at Virginia Tech, and took his first oil painting course in the spring. He graduated with a BFA in studio art in 2005. Justin currently lives and works in New York City. |

Brooklyn-based artist Sasha Shaw received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Shaw's work has been shown in New York at Interstate Projects, Flux Factory, and The Degenerate Craft Fair. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, she resides in Prospect Lefferts Garden with her husband and two dogs. |

Rachel Shim explores the visual connections that exist between bodies and within architectural and experiential space. She recently graduated from Cornell University with a BFA in Fine Arts, where she also spent time studying in New York City and abroad in Rome, Italy. Emphasizing the body's engagement with its surrounding environment, her works play between the private and public shared spaces we exist within, wander through, and contain in our consciousness. |
