Alumni

Scholastic Art & Writing Award winners have gone on to become artists, authors, poets, film directors, photographers, painters, designers, teachers, doctors, lawyers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and much, much more. For many students, winning a Scholastic Award gave them the confidence to pursue careers in the arts and the resolve to commit to creative lives.

Regional Affiliates

Nearly 100 organizations partner with the Alliance to present The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards at the local level in communities across the country. These Regional Affiliates, consisting of community based organizations, colleges and universities, public school districts, museums, newspapers, libraries, teacher organizations, private foundations, and businesses share a deep commitment to recognizing the creative achievement of young artists and writers.

Staff / Board

The dedicated staff and board of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers work tirelessly each year to present The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Among many activities, the staff, board, and volunteers conduct outreach, coordinate with Regional Affiliates, organize national judging, solicit and disburse scholarships, and present the national ceremony and student art exhibition in New York City.

Jurors

Established artists, writers, curators, critics, educators and creative professionals participate in jury panels for The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Panels of jurors review more than 20,000 works on the national level and select art and writing that best exemplifies The Awards’ core criteria: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice and vision.

Donors

The Alliance’s $3 million budget is sustained by its title sponsor Scholastic, as well as a growing number of corporations, foundations, and individuals who support our mission. Charitable donations and sponsorships enable the Alliance to provide recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities to our nation’s most talented and deserving teens.
