The Best Teen Writing of 2005
anthology, featuring selected award recipients from The Scholastic
Writing Awards of 2005, was released in Pittsburgh
at the National Council of the Teachers of English conference.
The anthology was edited by
Hannah
Jones, a sophomore at Barnard College
who earned a Gold Award for her writing portfolio in The Scholastic
Writing Awards of 2004. As a recent alum of The Awards selecting the
works to be highlighted, Hannah has enabled the Alliance to showcase
the authentic voices of our nation’s best teenage writers as
determined by one of their own.
Drawn
from more than 400 nationally recognized manuscripts, the 271-page
paperback book features student award recipients’ work in
a wide array of genres, styles and subjects. Highlighted works are
available to view from our virtual gallery.
