Highlights of 2004-2005:
Audiences and Advocacy for Emerging Work

Throughout the year, the Alliance increased exposure of the work of emerging artists and writers to larger audiences. 20,000 copies of the National Awards Catalog of 2005 were printed and distributed to students, teachers, educators and regional affiliates across the country. The Best Teen Writing anthology was released at the National Council Teachers of English conference in Indianapolis; 10,000 copies were distributed throughout the 50 states to the NCTE leadership as a tool for benchmarking the standard of excellence for high school writers. To date, the virtual galleries have hosted more than 252,000 unique visitors and the work of the 2005 award recipients is now available for online viewing. Exhibitions of student work were on display for growing audiences at the Diane von Furstenberg Studio (NYC), Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), Scholastic Inc. (NYC), the Office of the President’s Committee on the Arts & Humanities (Washington, DC), and the U.S. Department of Education, (Washington, DC).
