Highlights of 2004-2005:
Recognize! Support!

The year-long effort to identity and
recognize America’s most talented emerging teenage artists and writers culminated when more than 1,300 Gold, Silver, American Voices/Visions Awards were bestowed on teenagers from
across the nation:

All nationally recognized participants received special medals
 

Twelve Portfolio Gold Awards—five in Art, two in Photography, four in General Writing, one in Non-fiction Writing of $10,000 each—were presented.

More than 175 graduating seniors who received a Portfolio Gold or Silver Award in visual arts, photography or writing qualified for more than $1.5 million in scholarships at 40 participating colleges, universities and art institutes.

The 2005 National Awards Celebration took place in NYC to introduce America’s most talented young artists and writers to leaders in the arts and literary industries:

The events set a new record for participation, with more than 500 national award recipients and 200 teachers attending the National Awards Ceremony at Carnegie Hall.
   
Select recipients joined patrons for the Celebration Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental.
   
Students and guests had opportunities to attend a highlights exhibition of award-winning art and writing at the Diane von Furstenberg Studio.

Celebration 2005 continued in Washington, DC, where The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Student Art Exhibition of 2005 was on display at the Corcoran Gallery of Art from June-August.
