Poems to The Lost Art
Nancy Gorrell is an English teacher in Morristown, NJ whose students have won Scholastic Writing Awards. She was moved by the holiday card she received from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. It contained images of award-winning student artwork lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center. She shared the story with her creative writing students who reached out to the young artists by writing poems inspired by the lost work. Here are reproductions of the some of the lost works and the poems that honor them--creativity born from destruction.
