National Ceremony
Approximately 1,400 top students receive National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. National Award winners are invited to New York City to receive recognition on the country's most celebrated stage–Carnegie Hall–as part of the annual National Awards Ceremony. The ceremony also includes special guest speakers and performers, as well as achievement awards presented to prominent past winners of The Scholastic Awards.
Teacher Appreciation
The Alliance is committed to honoring the important work of teachers who instruct Scholastic Award-winning students. Each year, teachers of National Award winners receive recognition for their hard work and accolades for their dedication to fostering creativity. Additionally, special Ovation Inspired Teaching Awards are presented to instructors whose students repeatedly receive top Scholastic Art & Writing honors.
Public Programming
Each year, National Award-winning students are invited to participate in activities during National Events in June. Programs include student readings, workshops with local organizations, lectures by well-known artists and writers, portfolio-building seminars, studio visits with prominent artists, curatorial talks, and behind-the scenes tours and discussions with book and magazine publishing staff.
Middle School
From as early as grade 7, students may submit to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to track their artistic development from middle school to high school. As students just begin to realize their artistic skills and voices, these younger participants often put forward wonderfully creative works worthy of recognition at an early age. Works by students in grades 7 and 8 are grouped together separately from the high school students in grades 9 to 12.
